Employers play a vital role in the wellbeing of their workers.
This statement is even more relevant today, three years after the pandemic began and changed our lives. The pandemic placed a renewed spotlight on mental health and how it impacts all aspects of our lives, including the workplace. Many employers have realized they have a role in supporting their employee’s emotional, physical and social wellness. There has never been a better time to redefine business priorities and ensure employees have initiatives in place to support their wellness.
Desjardins Insurance, through its role as founding partner of the Conference Board of Canada’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Research Centre, examines issues facing Canadian organizations by conducting evidence-based studies to develop practical solutions. It recently released a report to help organizations address the global mental health crisis and support employees in their wellbeing through the creation of a wellness program specific to workforce needs.
The key takeaways from their research include the importance of surveying employees about their needs and to do so using a variety of channels to engage them. Also, to collect data and track progress as a way to identify which initiatives are most successful and to build on them. You can read more here.
As you can tell, developing a wellness program that achieves sustainable improvements and creates a healthy culture within an organization cannot be done overnight. It also cannot be done through an app or one-day workshop. It takes time.
Med-I-Well Services already follows these guidelines. We pride ourselves in taking a personalized and integrative approach to wellness.
Establishing rapport and trust is the foundation to our business. We firmly believe that relationship-building and communication are key to developing a sustainable wellness program.
Our team believes that the health of employees is critical to the success of a company because when your employees are well, your company performs well. Our multidisciplinary team is driven to help employees achieve excellence in health and wellness.
Because we focus on being responsive to the workplace, our programming options are tailored to a workforce's needs. To best determine the needs of an organization and its employees, we conduct our needs assessments and programming at various levels.
To ensure that we create the program and implement the services that will have the most effective and efficient results for an organization, we begin by conducting two forms of assessments: the Health Risk Assessment and the Workplace Health Culture Survey. These allow us to determine the needs of the organization and tailor programs that are best suited for employees' and organization's needs.
Our tailored and measurable programming has proven results: reduced absenteeism, faster return to work if an employee is injured, improved morale, enhanced productivity, and reduced risk of chronic disease. And we have the data to prove it. We track employees’ progress and maintain communication, ensuring continual engagement and feedback and enhancement of current programming.
